Sheriff’s Office Hosts Swearing-In Ceremony for New Sheriff’s Officers


HACKENSACK, N.J. – On Thursday, July 25th, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office hosted a swearing in ceremony for twelve new sheriff’s officers at the Bergen County Justice Center.  This incoming class was decided out of more than 100 possible candidates.


“This is a great day for our new officers, their families, and Bergen County,” said Sheriff Michael Saudino.


The incoming class also includes ten veterans; three of which served in the United States Marines, five in the United States Army, and two in the United States Navy.  


“I give my thanks to these ten members who sacrificed their lives and served our country overseas, and who are now returning to continue their service back home,” said the Sheriff.  


The class will now embark on the 22 week Police Academy at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute in Mahwah.  


The new officers are as follows:


Justin Anastasio – Oakland
Alan Annazone – Fair Lawn
Diego Cruz – Lodi
Matthew DeBonis – Hackensack
Wayne DeSemet – Lyndhurst
Patrick Doyle – Bergenfield
Tara Graul – Lyndhurst
Grzegorz Kinal – Wallington
Kevin Scarpa – Oakland
Vlad Shikham – Teaneck 
Jason Volekas – Mahwah
Josh Watters – Harrington Park
